The new Mazda MX-5 is a cutting-edge roadster coupé that’s designed for absolute driving pleasure. As the world’s best-selling two-seater sports car, the Mazda MX-5 is truly exciting, with powerful engines and a host of cutting-edge features to please even the most discerning of motorists. Five trim levels are available: SE, SE-L, SE-L Nav, Sport and Sport Nav – plus a limited-edition Icon model.
The sleek, energetic silhouette isn’t solely about superior style – it’s also about supreme aerodynamics to optimise performance. The new Mazda MX-5 comes complete with the marque’s elegant KODO: Soul of Motion design language, which appeals to all your senses. The convertible hardtop, attention-grabbing alloy wheels and a striking dual exhaust will get you noticed from every angle. Distinctive headlights are another highlight, while the broad windscreen ensures an optimum view of the road ahead.
Meanwhile, the interior is beautifully elegant, with smooth contours that appear to flow seamlessly from the exterior into the cabin. High-quality craftmanship is evident at every turn – from the sporty front and rear seats to the clever, intuitive controls in the ergonomic driver’s cockpit. The premium leather steering wheel with a handy music-control function features red stitching detail, reflecting the carmaker’s astute attention to detail. Stylish satin chrome touches provide an ultra-modern finish.
This latest generation is the very first Mazda MX-5 to be built with SKYACTIV Technology. That means that the engine range is more efficient than ever, without compromising on performance. The entry-level SKYACTIVE-G 1.5-litre petrol unit is available across the range, and is capable of 0-62mph in just over seven seconds. It also claims impressive returns of 47.1mpg and CO2 emissions of 139g/km. The punchier 2.0-litre version is offered in all but the SE model. These units, coupled with the model’s lightweight build, further enhance fuel efficiency. Sport models come with sports suspension to further enhance your experience.
Although this model is lighter than the previous version, the SKYACTIV-Chassis means that it is also more rigid than ever before to provide optimum safety levels in case of collision. What’s more, dynamic stability control comes as standard to keep you steady in tricky conditions. Mazda’s suite of i-Activesense safety systems includes radars and sensors to warn you of possible dangers ahead. Available from the SE-L trim and up, the MZD Connect 7” touch-screen is user-friendly and intuitive, and provides access to the car’s infotainment system. Entry-level models come with USB and AUX inputs and a four-speaker stereo, while the high-end Nav and Sport Nav modes come with integrated satellite navigation as standard.
